Read Carefully...

So I logged in to my mail this evening to see if there were any gems in my box and I found this. Always a favorite in whatever incarnation this, "Nigerian scam" as they're commonly known as, takes extra special consideration.

Upon first review everything looks to be in place.

• The e-mail address contains the "official looking" lawyer's name and address.
• The common story of needing to distribute a large sum of cash to the next of kin of a decease[sic] client of the aforementioned attorney.
• Horrible use of grammar, spelling, and punctuation befitting of a lawyer.
• The need to contact the amoral attorney to continue the discussion of the "legitimate arrangement" to declare me as next-of-kin and decide on a "mutually agreed upon percentage" to distribute the funds betwixt the two of us.
• And his death on November 11, 2001 as a result of a "heart-related condition" caused by "...the death of all the members of his family in the Gulf Air Flight Crashes in Persian Gulf Near Bahrain Aired August 23, 2000..." as reported by CNN.

Wait. What? Run that last part by me again...

"His heart condition was due to the death of all the members of his family..." Okay, okay. I just wanted to make sure I read that right. And it all looks pretty legit with that CNN link there about the crash. And neveryoumind the blatant copy/paste that was taken from the article's title. It even has the date and time. So, for clarification, the man was diagnosed with a heart condition after learning about his ENTIRE family dying in a horrible plane crash and died just over a year later from the horrible heart condition.

Wow. So all this money, 10.8 million GBP, has sat around since Nov. 2001 and you're just NOW trying to get some dope to help you out? Or is it that you've been trying to find someone to help you out SINCE 2001. Wow, either way Mr. Donovan, I think you're screwed.

What gives this particular SPAM-bag incarnation a little extra something special is that it apparently arrived Fri, 6/4 at 7:41PM. But I deleted a round of SPAM just this morning. SPAM from the past? I much more prefer the SPAM of the Future from the Future variety. But I seem to get less of that of late, so much less that I haven't seen a future SPAM in a long time. I miss finding mail from the future. I always wondered how they got them up to 88mph to make sure they got to my Inbox.

As the first entry of the blog I bring you something filed in the WTF, SPAM category. Enjoy.



I'm not quite sure what he's asking of me. He doesn't want pity. He doesn't want my money (apparently he has plenty). He's not asking for my address or any other personal information. I guess he just wants to let me know that he's decided to be generous after all these years of not giving two rat's asses. Or maybe he's trying to validate the "Claim you[sic] $$ now" SPAM that I'll receive in the near future.
